Dear all,
Here I am, honouring my promise to NUS - A blog about my study exchange experiences in Hong Kong.

This is The University of Hong Kong's (HKU) Main Building. Does the design of this building not remind you of some ancient building? Well, let me give you some history of HKU.
The University is founded in 1910 - the birth of Hong Kong's first tertiary institution. In December 1916, the University held its first congregation, with just 23 graduates.
It was ten years after the founding of HKU that women students were admitted for the first time. In 1937, Queen Mary Hospital opened and has served as the University's teaching hospital since that time.
Up to today, it is now Hong Kong's largest tertiary-level institution for continuing education with cumulative enrolment totalling more than one million students.
Therefore, I am pretty sure I will be able to gain some quality education over here, together with some cultural exchange and interaction with the local students. I will definitely enjoy my semester here! So dear friends, enjoy along with me! =)

18th September - Mid Autumn FestivalToday is the Chinese festival - Mid Autumn Festival. In Hong Kong, this day is a day for reunion, whereby family members get together to celebrate this day. It is also a public holiday for all students. This means I will have my Monday off!
Like I had said, Sunday is dim sum day. After a very nice dim sum lunch, we headed to Victoria Park for the celebration. It reminds me of Marina South during Chinese New Year. The same kind of carnival event. The place is huge!
Took lotsa photos, watched some performances such as dance and dragon dance, lantern riddles and many more. It was really crowded, as shown in the picture.

People placed mats on the grass and sat on it. They spent their night chatting away, lighting up lanterns and candles.
Saw many unique lanterns that cannot be found in Singapore! There are lanterns on wheels, furry lanterns and many more! What an eye-opener!
The weather wasn't very good after the typhoon yesterday. It was very cloudy for two days already, and we were kinda amazed by the fast speed of the moving clouds. By the way, the moon was covered by the thick layer of clouds most of the time, and when all of us finally saw the moon, we couldn't resist but to take a few pictures of it. The moon looked funny in the picture though. It's just a black picture with a round white circle in the centre. Haha..
As it was considered a major event for the country, the transportation timings were extended, so we went home really late. Around 1am or so. I am so glad I have 2 friends living in the same hall as me. Otherwise it is really unsafe for a girl to walk home late at night.
Hong Kong is really a happening place. Tested and proven. Haha. You never see Singapore streets alive at the wee hours. Hongkong streets are happening, crowded and alive even at 12am!
Oh yes, went to the pub for the first time today. Intention was not to drink or club or chill out. Intention was to accompany the soccer fanatics (I mean the guys) to watch a so-called important match! Liverpool versus Manchester United. Took dinner in the pub, and it's actually kinda ex. But it is ok. I mean, we should try as much stuff as we can in another country right? So I don't mind spending the dough.. Soccer match was pretty interesting, though I think the referee sucks. Food is good, and served generously. All in all, had a good time. =)
