Dear all,
Here I am, honouring my promise to NUS - A blog about my study exchange experiences in Hong Kong.

This is The University of Hong Kong's (HKU) Main Building. Does the design of this building not remind you of some ancient building? Well, let me give you some history of HKU.
The University is founded in 1910 - the birth of Hong Kong's first tertiary institution. In December 1916, the University held its first congregation, with just 23 graduates.
It was ten years after the founding of HKU that women students were admitted for the first time. In 1937, Queen Mary Hospital opened and has served as the University's teaching hospital since that time.
Up to today, it is now Hong Kong's largest tertiary-level institution for continuing education with cumulative enrolment totalling more than one million students.
Therefore, I am pretty sure I will be able to gain some quality education over here, together with some cultural exchange and interaction with the local students. I will definitely enjoy my semester here! So dear friends, enjoy along with me! =)

5th Nov - ShenzhenMade a trip to Shenzhen. I find that Shenzhen and Hongkong is just like Malaysia and Singapore. However it is more costly to travel from HK to Shenzhen, than from Singapore to Msia. The time taken is also longer. However, Shenzhen is similar to Malaysia in terms of the lower standard of living. Personally, I will make a trip down to Malaysia for cheap food and shopping. The same case goes for Shenzhen. The food there is really cheap!! A big bowl of noodles, which will usually cost at least HKD10 in Hong Kong, cost only RNB6 in Shenzhen! Less than SGD2! The drinks are worse. They cost only RNB3 compared to HK's HKD10-15 or so! Unbelievable!
I had heard that shopping is really cheap in Shenzhen too. However, I find that it's around the same in Hong Kong too. Perhaps I didn't go to cheaper shopping places? Well, I seriously think I would like to make another trip down someday. But not in the near future. Probably in December before I leave HK.
Anyway, who said that China is less developed? At its MTR station, we realised that they are more developed than any other country! They do not use cards to enter the gates, but small chips! To enter, you scan the chip, and the gates will open for you! I was amazed!

Our first destination - Window of the World. I really liked the tagline. It's quite philosophical, yet at the same time, very applicable.
“您给我一天, 我给您一个世界”
So what's this place all about? Well, this park contains examples of famous attractions from all over the world. It also features different sections covering Asia, the Pacific, Europe, Africa, and America, as well as exhibitions of modern technology, classic sculptures, and famous avenues from all over the world. Some of the famous attractions include Pyramids of Egypt, the Grand Canyon of America, St. Peter's Cathedral of the Vatican City, the Taj Mahal of India, the Sydney Opera House of Australia, and the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The most grand attractions are the Eiffel Tower and the Niagara Falls (My favorite!). All of us took so many photos until our cameras' batt became flat! Haha..
Some of the photos we took.. Check out the beautiful Niagara Falls. It is my favorite because there's a rainbow! The rainbow is not man-made by the way. It's real!

We took many silly photos as well, trying to imitiate the sculptures and statues. One word - LAME..

By the way, it should cost me RMB120 for the entrance fee, but it cost me only RNB110 because we didn't get the tix at the counter. We got it from the security guard! The security guard approached us, saying that he can sell the tix to us at a cheaper price! Wow. But well, China is like that ain't it? Not surprised..
After Window of the World, we went to 老街 (Lao jie) for some shopping. Didn't get any clothes or stuff, but got myself lotsa DVD! In other words, a DVD only cost SGD2! Unbelievable! Of course, I couldn't resist, and got myself 5 DVDs! Haha..
So I spent my money on the entrance fee, on DVDs, and lastly on manicure! The manicure over there only cost RMB10 (SGD2) as well! Normal manicure will cost RMB10. If you add on flowers, it will cost another 10 bucks. If you add on wax, it will cost another 40 bucks. But anyway, it is just damn cheap. I did waxing for my nails, and manicure. It was quite good, and it's dirt cheap. All my girl friends did it together. Haha. Couldn't resist!!
We went in the morning, and came back past midnight. And we didn't do much! Guess we really should go back there again one day. =)
Shenzhen delight. =)
